A gruesome breed of dead dog known under the later name the Rotten Stray can be found all throughout The Lands Between, often in vicious packs. While they're easy to take down for the most part as they don't get greedy, a sanguine variation that is found on the Altus Plateau's Writheblood Ruins amplifies their biting attacks by causing bleeding that can put you by surprise if not cautious.
Bleed, like all other symptoms of status, build up slowly after repeated blows, and drains a massive amount of your health when it reaches a certain level. It's a pain to combat, however it's not something that's going to happen within the blink of an eye or take you by surprise. Therefore, the Writheblood Ruins dog's overwhelming ability to inflict bleed instantaneously is an alarming anomaly.
As seen in the video above In the video above, these strays seem to be infected. Their normal attacks work exactly as intended, however, the combos are hitting many times, as illustrated by the continuous sounds and the rapid bleeding. Even those with maxed-out endurance and vitality stats, which govern in addition to health points and bleed resistance as well as heavy-duty armor will not last longer than a few seconds before bleeding into the next.
According to user comments on Fextralife which is a wiki that provides details about Elden Ring and the other Souls games, Writheblood Ruins was at some point home to an immortal slime. I've been unable to find footage of this opponent in motion. It was apparently fixed in the most recent 1.03 patch.

And given the troubles of the last few years, it's an absolute wonder that FromSoftware could release something this ambitious that remains functional for most people.
